Date: March 19, 2009 06:08PM Hi,
Im telling a friend of mine about raw foods, and he agrees its good, but then he said '' whats wrong with eating potatoe's boiled, baked, they are low in fat full of nutrients.'' I couldn't think of a reply,- Can anyone else explain why potatoes are NOT good for us ? Cheers, Paul Re: potatoe

Date: March 19, 2009 06:32PM A boiled potato is going to be healthier than a baked potato, because at the higher temperatures a carcinogen called acrylamide forms.
If you go to one of the nutritional calculators (fitday et al.) you will find that 100 calories of boiled potatoes has less vitamins, minerals, water, and fiber than 100 calories of oranges or some other fruit. Also starch or complex carbohydrates, the main energy source in potatoes requires more energy to digest than simple carbohydrates found in fresh fruit. Re: potatoe

One + for potatoes is that you can really raise your calories eating potatoes, and they bulk you up and make you feel full, These are things i find difficult eating raw. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
