lemon water

is water with lemon squeezed into it alkaline or acidic. common sense would say acidic, but i've read it's actuallly alkaline? what do you think? Re: lemon water

Date: June 04, 2009 03:01PM Apparently, it becomes alkaline in digestion. The clinical evidence of this is sketchy, but lemons are considered healthy presumably because they DON'T acidify your tissues. Re: lemon water

Date: June 07, 2009 03:28PM Lemons are obviously very acidic but their ASH, the stuff that is left over after they are metabolized and burned in the cell, is very alkaline, and this ash is what has an effect on the pH of the body. In fact, according to this chart they have a pH of 9.0 making them the MOST alkaline food. Watermelons also have a pH of 9.0 and watermelons are sweet, so you can't judge a food's pH by how they taste.
