Time for a new blender. Thoughts?

Life is a little pricey right now, so I can't go top shelf, but I'm willing to spend more for something that will do more (i.e. if it will chop nuts finely and make a good smoothie, etc.).

Long ago I wanted a Vita Mix. But rather than
spend $400 on a blender I reasoned that I could
get up to eight $50 blenders for the price of one
Vita Mix.

So I bought two $40 Black and Decker blenders and
I'm still using both of them. And they've each
been through a lot. So you can get workhorse blender
relatively cheaply. Maybe even one off Craigslist.org
for next to nothing.
