Antibiotic alternatives

I usually keep good health.
The last time i was forced to take antibiotics was 19 years ago due to an infection related to childbirth.

3 days ago I woke up feeling the symptoms/ onset of lower respiratory tract infection.
I knew this was not detox. I had to nip this in the bud.

I took kyolic garlic, echinacea, zinc and high dose vitamin c for 3 days. (alongside Raw and increasing green juice of course!)
The symptoms have disappeared.
The garlic may have created an imbalance in the intestinal flora, so once all trace of symptoms are definite, i will work on addressing the re balance.

My question is what do you take or do to deal with infection/ avoid antibiotics?

I am a fan of homeopathic remedies as well; Many scoff at them, saying they don't or "can't" work...I know that they do from personal experience. I have used herbs in the past, but generally stay very healthy, I feel, from the juices that I drink daily.

If/when I do feel anything coming on, or a family member is coming down with something, the first thing we do is address nutrition with juices, & then second, rest.

Go to bed, get as must rest as humanly possible & let the body work at healing itself.

My immediate family & I have not taken any meds of any type for over 15-20 yrs.

I get some grapefruits and juice them using one of those small inexpensive hand juicers that collects the pulp and seeds in a strainer. I chew the seeds well and wash them down with the grapefruit juice. I prefer the taste of the pink grapefruit the best. For more information about the seeds google grapefruit seed extract: [www.google.com]

Hi EZ rider
Thats interesting!
I juice at least 2 grapefruits daily, flesh and seeds. I have been doing so for months.
Maybe i will try chewing the seeds instead.
In the past, i have used citricidal,(grapefruit seed extract) but found that it generally postponed the cold and it tended to be difficult to clear.
thanks

Hi juicerkatz
Homeopathy is wonderful. I dont know how i would manage without it.
BIG fan.
I did consider training many times, but like me many people have done simple first aid courses and self prescribe, so i dont think there is too much work out there for the newly qualified.
Im normally very healthy due to lifestyle choices. I just remember what a chest infection feels like, so i wanted to nip it in the bud!

Good rule,thanks!

Its interesting, since eating raw i dont expect to be ill.
I have injured myself as i do lots of exercise, this usually heals quickly.
It was a shock to experience the infection symptoms, i wasnt sure what to do, so i threw everything at it!

Citrus juices with the peels; grapefruit, like EZ suggests, is a great choice. If I'm being lazy, Source Naturals Wellness Formula--it's an herbal and vitamin and mineral supplement that both boosts immune cell count and kills pathogens in the bloodstream. I swear by it when more-virulent-than-usual infections abound.

Before I was raw... my can't get sick right now regimen was... a garlic clove 3-4 times a day...like a dr might prescribe with an antibiotic... cause it is antibiotic, anti parasitic, anti fungal, anti bacterial... anti vampire...hehehe...

then i would do a vitamin c flush using pure vit c crystals for a few days... 1000mg every hour til your @#$%& goes soft... back off a 1000 and that is your body's limit...

ginger tea is also antibiotic... a nice ginger lemon tea... with sweetner of choice...raw honey has antibiotic qualities as well if you take it...

macerated garlic and onion covered with raw honey left to sit over night makes a great syrup to expel mucus.

take a fever inducing bath... crawl into a tub full with comfortably warm water... submerge as much as you can and still breathe...10-15 minutes turn on the hot water and raise the temp... submerge again 10-15... then raise the temp...submerge again... and so on... i would keep a space heater in the bathroom so it would be super warm when i got out... crawl into your favorite warm jammies and wooly socks... and crawl into bed under a heavy covering of blankets... with a book and some ginger tea... or just to sleep...

meditate and feel the energy of the aches and pains and what not as healing energy...

wow it's been a long time since i've done any of that...

give thanks and feel better soon...

love laugh and dream

I drink citrus juices with the peel twice daily, so you may imagine my surprise!
anyway its gone now. i just appear to have felt the breeze. Maybe it would have dissapeared without throwing all of that stuff at it!
