i want to add warm water but not too warm to my soups. Are there any tools out there, so I can see how hot the water is getting in the pot, on the stove?

any hand held thermometer for fish tanks will give you an idea and they are usually cheap like under 5$ or a kitchen thermometer will work but they are usually the same thing and more expensive smiling smiley smiling smiley

Sure. Like Jodi said. There are cheap hand-held jobs. You might even be able to pick one up at the dollar store.

I know of a great tool... your fingers... just put them in the water, if you can leave them in for more than a few seconds then you're good to go smiling smiley
