what is the difference between a young coconut and a regular coconut. i want to make raw food ice cream so im wondering is the meat from a young coconut softer and easier to put through a food processor. also were do you guys usually buy your young coconuts. Re: young coconut

Date: November 13, 2009 11:22PM a young coconut has very soft jelly like meat and quite a lot of water in it, the old coconut is fairly dryer meat (like you would find in shredded coconut for baking etc,) and way less water in it
i dont think you could make icecream out of the older brown cocos as the meat would be too hard i think i get my cocos at a regular grocery store but in england you might have to hit a chinatown type place or someplace that brings them in for east indian specialty foods that sort of thing ...Jodi, the banana eating buddhist Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
