Ginger - any thoughts?

I've only recently discovered how much I love using this little root in just about EVERYTHING I make - from juicing it into all my juices to blending chunks into my smoothies, I LOVE it. Any thoughts or preferences or information on the wonderful little root?

I love to use it as well, juices & smoothies. I also like to add lemon for that extra tart bite. I would suppose that many will frown upon the use of Ginger root, as it is not considered a food that you could sit down & eat by itself.

Yum, a plate of raw Ginger! winking smiley

People have different viewpoints on the use of ginger depending on where they are on their raw journey.

I think it's completely unnecessary.

My girlfriend loves ginger, I prefer garlic. Different strokes, I don't prefer tropical food (except durian!).

Sure, Mary Ann and Ginger are cute, but lettuce not forget that we should take thyme to compliment Sweet Marjoram.

And I mint to say that Rosemary ain't bad lookin' neither.

That all sounds fine Trive, but you left out Nutmeg...although she might be considered rather homely by some...

I always thought Ginger would be "spicy," but don't find it spicy at all. I find it rather refreshing in whatever I put it in. Definitely helped a recent cold/bronchitis when I made quarts of hot water with juice from a whole lemon, raw honey, and slices of fresh ginger. It was so warming and healing and very very comforting.

lisa m - Those are tasty combinations! We also do it that way. With the "apple/carrot/ginger/celery juice" - try throwing in 1/2 a lemon, peal and all.

See if you like that!

I always use a whole lemon in my juices, with the peel included if the lemon is organic (washed very well). Adds excellent taste and benefits. =)
