I owned a Durastill years ago when I was working in the State of Georgia. It's an excellent way to purify your own water. The Cons are it creates a lot of heat (not so bad in the Winter), and uses a lot of electricity.....WY
P.S. Be prepared to clean the boiling tank often. I used White Distilled Vinegar to dissolve the solid buildup.

I have considered a distiller & still might at some point. I feel that UV light/Reverse Osmosis would be the better all around choice for water purification, if you are going to spend that kind of money.

And as WY mentioned, that mineral deposit build-up is an issue.

Yes, but it becomes routine once you start. A bigger issue
is the initial set-up. A large distiller must be tapped to a cold-water
line, requiring some plumbing skills, or hiring someone to install it....WY
