What's the least expensive (but accurate) method for testing?

It depends on what is being tested for pH. Things that can be tested at home include drinking water, urine and saliva. Test strips are accurate enough for this, in my opinion. I use pHydrion brand, the 5.5-8.0 version. They make a 0-13 pHyrion too, urine ranging normally from 4.5 to about 9.

Blood pH testing is a specialty, I believe, something a doctor might have lab tested, needing to be very accurate, the pH of blood normally in such a narrow range of 7.35-7.4 or so. I've never had this done though.
