The only grocer in my area has them at $16.00 per pound. Last time I was in Mexico, they were everywhere @ $5.00 per kilo. Thanks Re: cheap chia seeds?

It comes out to about $8 a pound plus shipping. If you have a good international grocer, look in the spices section. I buy 8 2 ounce packets for $8, no shipping. Best. Paul Re: cheap chia seeds?

Date: February 07, 2010 11:48PM I would like to get chia seed from Peru, the protein, mineral and oil content seems to be better from there. But its way more expensive. The salba webpage really questioned the quality of mexican chia. I am not sure how one would to a price comparision between cheaper chia, and higher quality chia. If they were close to the same price I would go for the higher quality. If there was a huge difference in price I guess I would go for the lower price. If its $30/lb verses $5/lb. I imagine that it would be better to go cheap. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
