Is it neccesary to get an Excalibur Dehydrator? I saw another type at the store tonight for $60..I forget what it was called. Does anyone have a cheaper dehydrator and does it make a big difference?

You may not need the size, but be sure it has temperature control.

You may not need a dehydrator. I find that the simpler I do raw the better it works.

I don't need one per se

but I would love to make bread..i crave it & its expensive at the health food store
and also kale chips

a lot of the recipes in my new favorite cookbook Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine use a dehydrator too so i wanna try them

but I agree the simpler the better!

I am still new at this though so I want to indulge some of my cravings

I have been making icecream in my vitamix & it is delicious

I got a round one from the Goodwill for $6 last year! I've only ever seen a deal like that a couple times. It was in new condition too, must have been an unwanted gift. speaking of gifts, I always ask for kitchen stuff for Christmas presents, you have to be specific about what you need though and send them a pic so they get it right.

The only thing you need in a dehydrator is a temperature control.

i have been looking into buying a dehydrator for a while now, mainly excaliber.

Seems you can make alot of nifty raw foods with it, anyone tell me what kind of things you can make?

Cheers

Well, you can dry just about any fruit, veggie,or herb, for long term storage.
Also you can make crackers.
The main idea is to remove the water content,so foods store longer and weigh much less, for use in such situations as back packing or hiking.
