Beware of processed "avocado pulp" in guacamole

I was at a Whole Foods a month or two ago when to my surprise, I noticed that the guacamole on the salad bar was made from processed "avocado pulp" and not fresh avocados. I was also on a cruise many years ago and thought I was eating fresh guacamole but later found out that the "avocado" was coming out of a tube.

Because there is now processed avocado "out there," I highly recommend confirming that any guacamole one eats in a restaurant, health food store, etc., is made from fresh avocados. There now is such a thing as "cooked" guacamole!

Here is one company's processed avocado pulp:

I had the most wonderful organic avocadoes that were creamy and ripe yesterday. I think I know what products you speak of, and they definitely have inferior taste and nutrition (and prob. lots of salt).

Just the other day I bought a tub of guacamole, thinking it couldn't be much different from eating an avocado. It tasted pasty and flat. It didnt seem like it was the right color. I don't think it was 'raw'. Maybe it was, but I didn't like it. I wont be doing that again.

oh, unfresh guacomole is the worst. that packaged stuff tastes like mayonaise! avocados have been real cheap around here lately. even organic ones.
