Pain in parotid gland

I had some pain in the parotid gland, but only when eating particular foods. Its the first time I have ever experienced that. Yesterday, it was particularly painful on eating anything really dry or sweet. No pain amazingly to eating chickpea sprouts. A LOT of pain on eating chocolate. What first set it off was having a sample of a thick fruit smoothy. Its no so bad today, actually didn't notice it. My partner thinks it was from a stone or a blockage, and was pretty unconcerned. But it was amazingly painful, and an odd sensation of feeling what felt like an unusual amount of saliva being excreted.

I hope it continues to get better. I don't know what to do, if anything.

I'd say, avoid any foods that set this off, but keep an eye on it. Good luck.
