dates

anyone here make it a day by just eating dates. We've been getting awesome medjool dates at our local grocery store. I've been eating them solo and then one big salad with them in it as well.

About the only thing I don't like about them is that they can be somewhat dehydrating.

On 30BaD I read that some people blend dates and water to make a drink they call "Datorade" (like "Gatorade," but no dyes, added chemicals or other bad stuff). That way it'll be hydrating.

Some supra-Saharan tribes used to subsist on dates and fermented camel yogurt(for water, I assume) on long treks across the sands. Dates are dry, yes, but energy rich also.

i'd be careful, dates are so sweet, that the dry mouth you are gettingv is possibly straight up dehydration. I made a pecan pie last thanksgiving and it was mostly dates and pecans, and that thing blew my balance off so bad, i didn't wanna mess with dates for months. So be careful, greens are a better food to live on solely.

i agree, but I might think that the pecans were more responsible than the dates. In my experience, I have had more profound symptoms of dehydration with nuts and seeds.

I do drink much liquid with my dates. This has helped immensely.

I do eat quite a bit of greens. I like to make a huge salad with dates in it, but do not believe that that eating greens solely is better for me. I prefer fruits.

I heard of a woman who lived entirely on fresh dates. She lived in Egypt, so I assume she had a constant supply. I have only had dried dates. I can only imagine that fresh dates would supply some water, and vitamin C. I don't know how much is left in a dried date. I honestly don't know if fresh dates would meet all of persons nutritional needs.
