If I order this from one U.S. state to another, will it be irradiated if it is in a glass container in shipping? Anyone have a reliable link?

It's usually packed very well in the boxes. Not sure what the different carrier processes are, but most companies ship by UPS.

I don't think that yor mail will be irradiated and you can probably tell if it is.

According to this US EPA link the only mail currently being irradiated is mail sent to certain zip codes, this was scaled back from earlier plans to irradiate all mail. You can tell if your mail is irradiated because of the effect it has on paper - it tans it and has other effects - and collectors of old stamps are really into tracking if mail is irradiated or not:

Is my mail is being irradiated?
Currently only mail to the White House, Congressional offices, and federal government offices in the 202-205 Zip Code exchanges is being irradiated. Irradiation is taking place at facilities in Ohio and New Jersey.

Effect on mail
The USPS warned that a number of products could be adversely affected, such as seeds, photographic film, biological samples, food, medicines, and electronic equipment. In addition, a number of papers and plastics have been observed to react badly to the irradiation; paper may become grayed and fragile, and some plastics have bubbled or melted.

Irradiation's effects on paper caused some alarm in the philatelic world, which sends large numbers of rare postage stamps and covers through the mail. A number of auction houses stopped sending material through the mail, and Linn's Stamp News regularly featured reports on stamps and covers that had been ruined by irradiation.

Although at one time the USPS expected to irradiate all mail, it later scaled back to just treating mail sent to government offices.

Many of the immediately visible irradiation effects are due to the high temperatures experienced, which can reach 130 °C [266 °F] under the current dosage protocols: desiccation and embrittlement; browning or other discoloration; melting, fusing, or blocking.

Chemical reactions induced by irradiation, and the resulting damage, may be manifested immediately or may develop over time: depolymerization and loss of strength; embrittlement, acidification, discoloration; and accelerated rates of subsequent aging deterioration in susceptible materials.

I had never heard that this was happening. Perhaps it's to make sure that all of us who want unpasteurized stuff aren't allowed to get it unzapped?

powerlifer, I read that FDA requires any food packaged in glass had to be irradiated for possible shards of broken glass. Thx to all for replies.
