Date: April 16, 2010 04:20PM Under extreme conditions people sweat on average about 5 liters of water a day and can lose around 5,000mg of sodium in sweat according to this study--
[www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] Of course it's just one study and collects sweat samples in such a way that might affect conclusions. Sodium reabsorption from sweat glands was studied by the army in the 60's [www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] , and now the hormone aldosterone is thought to stimulate conservation of sweat sodium when the body begins to get low [en.wikipedia.org] It's interesting that some who sweat buckets sometimes wind up in emergency rooms near death from hyponatremia while others seem able to cope. What makes the difference? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
