On the jars;

Check with your local convenience store/deli/grocery store deli/school cafeteria/hospital, etc. They get pickles, hot peppers/relish & other condiments in the 1/2 gal. & gal. size jars & have been saving them for me for free.

One grocery store sells them for $1.00. They come with a metal lid, so you would still have to purchase the plastic lid for it.

Curious about the metal lid and why you cannot use it...I actually would prefer a non-plastic lid. A screw-type metal one would be better.

The metal lid is a "thread on" type lid with no opening. I believe it has a plastic type seal in it. I was thinking that you wanted a lid with a "pop top" so you could pour the liquid out of the bottle.
