Date: August 08, 2010 08:07AM I thought you might ber interested in our local community agriculture scheme.
[www.chagfood.org.uk] It is a 2 acre market garden growing and supplying organic fruit and veg to local households. The boxes of veg are taken to the local village by Samson, a lovely horse. He also works the land. I see that this community supported agriculture is popular in Europe and the US so maybe you know of this .already. It is a refreshing read after the truly horrible stuff about round up ready crops etc. Re: growing food locally in the UK

As more and more information about American agribiotech and agrichemistry is brought to the fore, more and more news of American community gardens, organic microfarms, and sustainable urban farms follows close on its heels. I am not sure, however, that the former doesn't have, has not from the beginning had, the upper hand, and that the vector of methods isn't arcing inexorably away from the time-tested natural way to produce food. That is, I am not sure that traditional farming isn't just a small and temporary trend that will eventually fade away in this country. This is why I am keeping my eye on what is happening elsewhere. I would love to be able to move into the city and homestead, but not if it becomes impossible. Thus, I have been lazily mulling over the idea of packing it in and moving to the Isle of White or something, someplace in Europe with a long growing season, lots of unspoiled natural landscape, and no concept of "better living through chemistry." Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
