They are really serious about food control, aren't they?

This bill will make it illegal to grow ANYTHING at home:

Here are a few organizations which are opposing the bill:

Weston A. Price Foundation
Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund
National Independent Consumers and Farmers Association
Raw Milk Association of Colorado
Farm Family Defenders

Here is the list of associations which support the food control bill:

American Frozen Food Institute
Grocery Manufacturers Association
National Fisheries Institute
United Fresh Produce Association
National Restaurant Association
Produce Marketing Association
General Mills
Kraft Foods North America
Consumers Union
Center for Science in the Public Interest
Food Marketing Institute
American Public Health Association
Center for Foodborne Illness Research and Prevention
Consumer Federation of America
International Bottled Water Association
National Association of Manufacturers
National Confectioners Association
National Consumers League
Pew Charitable Trust
Trust for America's Health
Snack Food Association
Safe Tables Our Priority (STOP)
American Bakers Association
American Beverage Association
International Dairy Foods Association
International Foodservice Distributors Association
National Coffee Association
American Farm Bureau

I will definitely leave US if this happens, but I am sure that eventually they will impose this to the whole world. I would rather be poor than be forced to eat what the big producers make (yes make, they don't "grow" like humans do, they "make" stuff).

If everyone would get voted out in each election this kind of nonsense would get slowed down, at least...

How to vote down someone when they (corporations) have billions of dollars ready to use to make things happen? Elections are a farce.

Eh, then it becomes like pot. Grow your own, keep it silent and you don't get caught. The people who get caught are the ones who sell it. So grow your own food, don't sell it and you win.

rab,

This is about the fifth or sixth go around for posts about this bill[ususally it's been brought up at one of the other forums here]. S. 510 has been tooled and retooled and, last I heard, tabled for decisions on "other stuff." Also, it would be impossible to implement(yes, I have read the whole thing), and I think enough Congresspersons realize this that they're OK with its being in limbo.

Stay aware but don't panic, is my motto on this score.

Could you please guide me to the section where this would apply to home-grown stuff? I scanned the bill but it seemed to be directed at sellers of produce, from what I could see. The thing which pisses me is that MY senator started this bill! Ugh! If anyone tells me the section, I will look it over and perhaps contact his office with protest. The fact that they are hooking up Homeland Security to this is alarming. Got fascism?

Clover and mung sprouts.
Gosh!
Can a person live totally on sprouts?
I can see my entire kitchen being a sprout garden if food becomes "illegal" out there.

Vinny

I think you could but where would one continue to get organic non-gmo seeds without growing them oneself is what I want to know.

Agreed if Codex and these radiation/pasterization procedures continue then the US will be unhospitable/uninhabitable unless you can grow your own food in community.
I already don't have anything to eat here since the CA almonds are pasterized

buy directly from the grower if you can... but either way, im sure pasteurized almonds are better for you than not eating at all, but I assume you where exaggerating about not having anything to eat, lolsmiling smiley... Ive heard though that some pasteurized but still labeled raw almonds are still sprout-able...
