There is a specific measurement that you can buy at least here in the UK which has one cup, half cup, quarter cup etc.

Hopefully that helps abit.

It is either 237ml or 8 fluid oz

The best way is to get yourself a measuring device of some sort. Measuring cups are very easy to find most anywhere.

It's one cup as marked on a measuring cup, it's not a drinking cup.
Have you ever seen anyone bake? They use cooking measures.

Like this one though this is for measuring wet ingredients.

These is for measuring dry ingredients.

I'd say with raw uncooking though you could get away with an approximate measurement. Baking is like alchemy, things need to be in the right proportions for things to do exactly what they're supposed to in the oven. Measurements in raw food prep are just about flavour so you can adjust as you like.
