Cute. Unassisted birth is so lovely, truly enjoyable compared to the stories friends have told me about hospital and midwife assisted labour.
I'm laughing a little bit about the ginormous clothes she ordered, lol. Her newborn is going to be swimming in those. People don't seem to realize how tiny a 7 lb babe is.

It would be interesting to hear how well the baby's teeth etc develop, I'm not convinced that a vegan diet is actually very good for gestation or for children. Not that I think we'll hear of any issues from the die-hard vegan parents, Shazzie had some things to say about it though.

That's an interesting comment Coco - I am by no means a die hard vegan but I was staunchly vegan for 4 years before my last pregnancy, all through my pregnancy and for 3 years afterwards. My son was born half an ounce under 9lbs and was vegan for the first 3 years of his life. He is now nearly 15yrs old - has been mainly vegan all his life and has the most beautiful set of gnashers you could hope to see. Our dentist says they are wonderful teeth - very straight and not a filling to be seen.

Awesome, and good to hear. Were you careful with B12, D3 and EFA's in his diet? Those are the highest on the list of issues with a purely vegan diet. I don't mind experimenting with my own health but not so much with the kids, I supplement their diet with the things I think they fall short on.

I just found out about this and it is so cool. I am very interested in following this baby's development, given their lifestyle and diet. The baby was over 7 lbs. and proves that raw can be substantial.

(I thought Angela looked pregnant but am amazed at how they were able to hide it all that time. That must be why they didn't have videos for such a long period. Congrats to them!smiling smiley)

Her name is Oria (sounds like oh-rye-ah) Berry Monarch smiling smiley [www.youtube.com]

Berry she says is her dads middle name and middle name of several other family members going back a few generations.

Jodi, thanks for the heads up! That story that Matt tells of how the name came into being is pretty magical.

(Also the revelation that he's Jewish is pretty funny: a Jewish surfer dude! LOL)

I love the name Oria; it's different but beautiful.

How precious. Almost poison the world because of your greed and all is forgiven by virtue of having a baby? Did this kid suddenly appear out of nowhere? They're probably renting it from some impoverished Ecuadorans, hoping to make the world forget about the Adya Clarity abomination through the sheer force of cuteness. Just kidding! I think.

HeavenHands,

Speaking for myself, all is forgiven all the time (or at least I'd ideally like to be that way).

But that's apart from any actions that I would personally like to see changed.

You know what? I'm doing my best to be a hate-free human being. But at this point in time, the people who are challenging that the most are those who comprise the seemingly endless line-up of raw foods fakes. I'm trying my best to laugh my way through it. I really am.

Big difference between forgiving and forgetting by the way.

HH, I hear what you are saying. I expect more from raw food vendors when it comes to ethical capitalism (at least I used to). The idea of possibly making millions with such a ratio between cost to make and purchase price is what offended me so much. The aluminum sulfate is another topic and I am not sure Matt knew about that; he seems very into his health and I doubt he'd encourage people to take an unsafe product. I also know that it's easy to apologize once you've been caught. However, I do wish he and Angela well. I am not an entrepreneur and suppose the lure of money is a human trait. But dang! That was quite a price margin there!

I'm open to just about anything. By that I mean that I wouldn't be surprised if he was an angel or a devil or everything in between. That's because I don't know him. All I can do is go with what he's given us and have a laugh. I can laugh at myself. I guess that sometimes that erroneously gives me the impression that I can laugh at others too.

I'd never forgive myself if I ever forgot about it....but to be real, there's a lot more to business than the average person knows. Such as overheads, and when you deduct all of your costs, then the tax man comes-a-knocking. Some items you don't have much of a mark up on, but you make it up on other items where you can. I reckon they have done well, as they saw a gap in the market and filled it. So well done, and by the way, we don't have to buy their products do we!

HeavenHands its not that easy at times to be a hate free human being .. there is so much around us to be jaded about, that is totally understandable

It seems to me the most people that are dissapointed by gurus are those same people that seem to lift them up in some sort of unrealistic expectations. they are only human just like everyone else and make mistakes

and we are all here sharing our mistakes .. and successes .. thats what a place like this is all about !

do you think its easy to be under the scruitiny of the public eye 24 / 7 voluntarily ? if so .. try it ! you might be suprised at the reaction you get from time to time sharing the most intimate moments of you life and even not so intimate ... one little offhand comment can send a youtube vid viral with a ton of hatemail .. simply for sharing a personal point of view. (ask Dan the Man , or Paul Nison, or Crystal Hutchens, or Allissa Cohen, or any number of guru lately that has made some off cuff remark resulting in a figurative wedgie by the masses !)

its not easy .. i say cut them (monarchs) some slack maybe .. they did what i consider the best they could do

they promoted a product they believed in
they apologized for not doing more research
they promised to be more diligent in the future
they offered full refunds to anyone that wanted them

what more can they do?

but seriously its a baby .. what a celebration!

and even better .. we now have the opportunity to watch a raw vegan baby in the making and watch their parents pass their milestones and make their mistakes and successes and report back to us what works what doesnt .. its a huge opportunity .. (if they decide to share this aspect with us). the last time this really happened was with Shazzie and her daughter Evie

Well, I would love it if they'd document their process as there is a serious lack of info available about raw vegan pregnancy and child rearing. I wouldn't blame them for being quiet about it though, these days you can spank your kids all you like but don't try feeding them a vegan or vegetarian diet or somebody will come and take them away sad smiley.

Jodi, I agree with you about the hero worship, which leads to disillusionment.
But when we do business with people, I do think we have to be able to trust them. By "trust," I mean that the products are accurately represented and fairly priced. If either or both are not, then the seller is not being ethical (just talking generalities here!). Ethics involve both honesty and non-greed. I used to be quite gullible; if someone told me something, I automatically believed that they wouldn't lie to my face. LOL! But I sure don't want to be cynical, nor unforgiving. And I was moved by the first video of that baby in Angela's arms. I do wish them well.
