Tamarinds...
Date: December 29, 2011 10:59PM

No one ever seems to mention these fruits?

They remind me a lot of dates- I'm kind of surprised they're not mentioned more by 811-ers as I imagine they're quite high in carbs.. Lots of stores stock the block packs of them?

I find tamarinds are almost intolerably sour, and I have never seen them raw off the tree. Where do you find them?

There are sweet tamarinds as well as sour ones. The sweet ones come from Thailand, the sour ones come from central America. I used to buy fresh sweet tamarind when I visited Thailand, and they are delicious.
