You know the ones I'm talking about, rightt? Three heads to a bag? This stuff isn't very green usually. Does it still have decent nutrition or is it essentially the same as eating iceberg? Do they remove the outer leaves or what?

I have had one in the fridge for two months and it has only just now started to get moldy. I'm not buying it again, as I fear this confirms supposition of its being irradiated sad smiley

I just finished a bag of grapefruit that was in the fridge for 3 months. They were unbelievably sweet and not even thinking about going bad.

That's different though, citrus fruit comes with a fairly thick wrapper that resists decay. Lettuce is just a thin little leaf, those don't generally last all that long. Those romaine hearts though, they really stay "fresh" for ages.
They are very pale green and almost white compared to whole romaine so I'd have to say they aren't as nutritious. Colourful food is full of good stuff and dark green in particular. Lots of chlorophyll too.

I've never had citrus or anything else last 3 months in the fridge. I'd say that at one month at latest they'd start getting soft and perhaps moldy on the spot where they're sitting. These were not thick-skinned grapefruit either. I had them, got sick of grapefruit, and lost track of time. I got them right around Christmas.
