ok to eat uncooked maitake mushroom?

I've been checking into this because I don't remember ever eating it raw, but I have some in my fridge and don't know what to do with it. Some people advise against eating it unless it's cooked, but there's got to be a way to marinate it or something to get it to where it can be eaten, right? Anyone ever eaten it raw, and how did you eat it? Thanks....

I have eaten shitake raw in a mushroom zucchini burger, but not maitake. A quick look suggests it is probably ok. [www.brighthub.com]

"In the United States, maitake mushrooms are eaten raw or cooked....
Are Maitake Mushrooms Safe
Research has discovered no adverse effects or toxicity from using maitake mushrooms in any form. Toxicity studies show no adverse effects of maitake D-fraction when taken in pill, powder or liquid form"

"Maitake Mushrooms as a Cancer Fighter: One of the main reasons why maitake mushroom needs to be consumed daily is due to its cancer fighting abilities. A recent research revealed that maitake mushrooms, taken in any form (raw, cooked or supplements), not only boosts the immune system but also stimulates the production of anti-cancer cells. In other words, intake of maitake mushroom could actually prevent development of cancer. Ongoing studies also show that ingredients in maitake mushrooms can also restrict growth of cancerous cells."

I used some olive oil, lemon and cilantro and then a little bit of chili oil and Nama Shoyu. Really good!
