Date: July 24, 2012 03:03PM Now that's a really good point to make. I often think of people in countries where quality food is scarce. Most of us live in such affluent lands that this issue just doensn't have a voice. But if it did, I'm sure there'd be a very different forum...

Date: July 25, 2012 03:21PM Well, if it comes to the point that there's no food around, I don't think I will worry about staying raw It'll be about survival. I have some organic whole grain pasta stashed away, as well as some grains. I bought a wheeled cart, so I can go to the nearest river and get water, if there's none. I also take classes every now and then about the edible wild plants That's all I could think of in terms of preping. Re: What can we prep?

Date: July 25, 2012 10:17PM Chia seeds! They are high in calcium, protein and Omega 3's and their natural antioxidants help keep them fresh for a very long time.
I would also buy raisins in commercial packages since the proffessional packaging would help keep them fresh. I've also seen raw fooders mention that they've stocked up on cooked foods, just for their shelf life, but I think that might be a big temptation :-) Re: What can we prep?

Date: July 26, 2012 12:43AM I don't think prep as such Chat, but being aware of what can happen and I like that class that 'mermaid' take that teaches about wild edible plants. Actually, I think it's a good idea to keep a week's survival kit in the cuboard just in case.

Date: July 26, 2012 04:40PM I had a sealed box of almonds go bad on me in 6 months. I also have a sealed container of quinoia that still looks good that might sprout that is 5 years old.
How long should vacuum packed nuts and seeds last? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/26/2012 04:40PM by pomagranate. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
