read this thingamajig that said that

you can't complete a yawn with your eyes open

i thought... really?

so i tried to yawn a real FULL yawn

u know, the one that has a beginning, middle and a satisfying end

and it did NOT happen

try it

this blew me away

such a small strange astounding thing!

I never noticed that, but it appears that I can yawn with eyes open. I will have to take note the next time it occurs naturally. The next thing will be how to stay awake while in the passengers seat, and when I am listening to someone talk about taxes and their social impact.

yep, just happened. And yes I did blink however brief at the very final portion of a natural yawn. What about sneezing? I think one closes the eyes during that also. But that makes more sense as the possibility of getting something in the eyes that is being expelled.
