Concerned About Weight Loss...help needed

Hello Folks,

I have been raw for over 2 months now...100%. I weighed 153 pounds when i started.
Just so you know i was a vegan for 3 years prior, eating 70% raw. So it wasnt a huge huge change.

I now weigh 137 pounds. I have also been running for 30 min a day 5-6 days a week.

Not sure why i am losing so much, but i am looking super skinny.
Looking quite unhealthy. Very boney.

Any comments.

btw....my daily diet is.

30 min run, 30 min weights.

*good chunk of pineapple
*3 strawberries
*handful of raspberries, and blueberries
*1 apple, 1 pear, 2 bananas, 1 mango, 2 plumes
*5-6 dried apricots, 2-3 dried figs, 2 dried dates
*1 big salad, handful of spinach and kale.
with, carrots, red pepper, onion, beet, broccoli,
I also munch on a handful of sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and almonds.

Eddie,

A few thoughts:

It's my understanding that typically, when you start out 100% raw, you lose a great deal of weight while detoxification of all tissues occurs. You really thin out, then you gradually put weight back on, provided you're eating sufficient calories for maintenance. Maybe this is what's happening to you.

Are you still touring? Maybe you should consider moving around on stage while performing as the exercise it is, in which case, that's a lot of additional calorie burning you're doing with the running.

Maybe add more fat-rich stuff to your diet. Eat more avocados, coconut butter, more dried dates and figs, maybe combined with raw nut butter. Good luck!

I think i am way too short on calories. Guess, i need to get more...but worry
how to get them and be healthy.

been raw for two months and havent found a great balance yet.

Fats are an easy way to get calories (snacking on raw nuts?). But if you want to stay with the fruit how about juice? Its soooooooo good.

Eddie, the way you move around on stage, you'd be hard-pressed to overeat nuts! Just don't eat so many you give yourself diverticulitis, and you should be OK. The key is fat and starchy carbs; everything else you're eating is spot-on.

Thanks so much for the replies.

So if you were to do 5 things that would increase some weight, and doing it
healthy and raw. What would you do?

Yams? more nuts ( chewed well ), seeds, avocado, hemp, sprouted grains?

If someone wants to make a list of some great suggestions that would
help me out huge! thanks so much everyone.

Yams raw? Hmmm . . . other suggestions you made yourself sound great. Just eat more of these things, and calorie-dense stuff like dried figs and dates and nut butters, you should be A-OK. Trust your own wisdom--you sound like you know what to do already!

Hi,
That was the exact reason why I quit my 100% rawfood diet. (losing too much weight)



By the way..
Do you soak the sunflower seeds and almonds before eating? 5-8 hours of soaking makes them more nutritious, more easily digestible and better tasting too.

for example soaking sunflower seeds gets the XX vitamin to increase by 300%. The seed starts to prepare for growing and change starch to more useful ingredients.
Cant remember anymore what vitamin the XX was.. probably C.

Fruit, fruit, fruit. Eat as much as you can. I probably eat twice as much fruit as you do and I am a less active female. I think you'll find it difficult to sustain this diet without getting more calories. And I personally have found it better to get those calories from fruit. Also you might find it useful to use, cronometer, fitday or some other calorie/nutrient counter.
