hypoglycemia

Date: April 13, 2013 10:32PM Anyone have any success reversing this? I know how to manage blood sugar issues, but I wonder about reversing it permanently. I hadn't had a problem with it for quite awhile but just when I thought I could get away with a lot of fruit before leaving the house, the next thing I know I'm feeling as if I might faint. Thankfully I was in the neighborhood of a raw foods restaurant so I could quickly eat something healthy. It's frustrating though to not be able to be good with a bunch of fruit and greens. If I don't add a substantial portion of fat or protein to my meals, I'm asking for trouble. I could never do the 80-10-10 approach. Re: hypoglycemia

Date: April 13, 2013 10:54PM the adrenal glands are involved in sugar metabolism. High lipids in the ways towards the cell would mechanically interfere with glucose cell penetration, which would cause high blood sugar (and then high insulin secretion). High lipids inside the cell also interfere. chromium and cinnamon help. Maybe transition slowly with a low fat diet. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/13/2013 10:56PM by Panchito. Re: hypoglycemia

Date: April 13, 2013 11:49PM That's interesting Panchito. So you're saying that, even if I'm relatively low fat currently (compared to the past anyway), there is still too much fat in my cells from my previous high fat diet preventing proper absorption of sugar and causing blood sugar crashes? Chromium and cinnamon would help my cells to shed some fat?
Also, what's a good reference source for this that I could peruse? Thanks Re: hypoglycemia

Date: April 14, 2013 12:09AM I would trouble shoot the problem as follows. Fruits contain both fructose and glucose. Try pure glucose and see if you have the same symptoms as when eating fruit. If so, the problem maybe insulin resistance. If not, then it is a fructose problem.
abnormalities of glucose metabolism (insulin resistance) [en.wikipedia.org] abnormalities of fructose metabolism. [en.wikipedia.org] many videos on youtube about fat and insulin Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/14/2013 12:10AM by Panchito. Re: hypoglycemia

Quinoa, legumes, sweet potatoes, rolled oats, etc. Many many options for cooked vegan food (or mixed raw). 70% is still considered Raw. Re: hypoglycemia

I need to stop the all or nothing right now. It backfires on me. I also think i need to change my perspective and thinking. Re: hypoglycemia

Date: April 14, 2013 12:45PM being a vegan is a great acomplishment relative to the constant bombardment of advertised media products and social pressures. Re: hypoglycemia

I just re-read Savor by Thich Nha Khan ( Buddhist) and he talks alot about this. How we are totally comparing ourselves to others, forming poor self-esteem because of the media and advertisements out there. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
