anyone who's a hundred percent on raw diet?

Anyone on here who's 100 percent? I just went raw vegan a few months ago, n have been vegan (completely) since april 2012. Wondering what type of food a fully raw vegan eats everyday. It's hard to find completely raw food. Peanut butter, for instance. What do you do for nuts, seeds, n grains?

I dont know why you say raw foods are hard to find...

theres a lot of variation with raw diets, depends on who you ask

some people eat nuts and seeds and some dont

"What do you do for nuts, seeds, n grains?"

For nuts and seeds, I try to stick with mainly the high omega-3's... sprouted walnuts, hemp seeds, and chia seeds, but I also have sprouted sunflower seeds. Many people here, including myself, are 100% raw food. Lots of foods to choose from... fruits, vegetables, algae's, sprouts, sprouted nuts/seeds, and sea vegetables.

Where do you get your raw seeds from? Now the Whole Foods packages simply say untoasted sunflower seeds or something similar. They do not say raw, which makes me think they are being zapped, too. sad smiley And in their bulk bin, country of origin said China (!) so that is out of the question.

I sprout my own sunflower seeds, I get them from [sproutpeople.org]. For sprouted walnuts, I use [bluemountainorganics.com] (I also get their sprouted walnut butter). For raw hemp seeds, I just use Nutiva and for chia seeds (also from [sproutpeople.org]), sometimes I'll soak them for 4-5 hours and then use but that's only because I haven't had much success in sprouting them until they grow tails. I'm thinking about using organic sprouted chia seed powder until I learn how to do it consistently. With chia and hemp, I make milks.

No way in hell do I believe those are sprouted walnuts.

To sprout walnuts they can't be split in half which means they would have to be sprouted while still in the shell which means they would be incredibly expensive.

That website also claims to sell sprouted brazil nuts - another unbelievable joke.

They are lol, $32.50 for a 16 oz. jar of sprouted walnut butter and $18.90 for 9 oz. of sprouted walnuts.

That sounds about right for organic walnuts which have been soaked. Sprouted, with actual visible sprouts, would cost much, much, much, more.

Their "sprouted Brazil nuts" are about the price soaks would be too. This is an even bigger scam than the "sprouted walnut" because Brazil nuts, in real life, take up to a year to sprout. Walnuts take at least four months but can take up to a year, too.

Maybe, but I'd still rather have soaked walnuts over raw walnuts.

It only takes a few hours to soak them yourself at home and you can save yourself around $20 a lb. by doing it.

Good point, I just need to find a high-quality source of raw walnuts, shouldn't be too hard. Plus I can soak them in kelp powder and increase the nutrient content. Still can't make my own stone-ground walnut butter though. What do you think of jungle peanuts?

I don't buy walnuts because they grow in my yard but if they didn't I would try these - but I'd wait until winter to get the freshest batch...

I can't stand jungle peanuts. Maybe they would taste OK for people who are not raw and can roast them.

BTW, Cassar's fulvic acid is very strong and strips the tannins off soaking nuts right before your eyes. It leaves Omica's fulvic acid in the dust, IMO.

It is commonly known that sprouted nuts are only soaked nuts. No way those walnuts or brazil nuts would be sprouted.

The best way to sprout walnuts is without the shell, but shelling a walnut without it being broken is an artform which takes much practise. I shell walnuts and sprout them. It is like doing surgery...takes a very careful hand, a certain thick knife to pick away carefully at the shell etc. My success rate was very low at first (walnuts were nearly all broken), but my success rate increased to about 95% with practise.

I tried sprouting walnuts in the shell, but after 6 months only one walnut had a crack in the shell, so l gave up. Fancy trying to sprout a seed for 6 months, lol.

If you scroll down on my site you will see pictures of sprouted chestnuts and walnuts. I was going to post pictures but the uploader isn't working at the moment.

Brazil nuts are hard enough to shell, and almost impossible to shell without breaking the nut. Never have been able to sprout Brazil nuts, wayyy too difficult. Even shelling is a pain, and not all of the nut comes out when l do shell them. Still, a very important nut to have.
