Lemon Shortage
Posted by: SueZ ()
Date: July 17, 2014 09:08PM

I had to pay $1.49 each for organic lemons today at the grocery store and there were no limes at all. Someone in line said she heard on tv that there is a lemon and lime shortage.

Any insiders here who know what's really going on?
All I've just found is some months old news in a goggle search that claims the Mexican drug cartel is behind the lime shortage and that Bolivia is ready to jump in and fill the market void. It all sounds kind of crazy.

They help you to remember to put question marks on questions.

LOL! You are getting ripped off, dear! Go to Trader Joe's if you MUST have og. lemons. $1.99 a pound and I've had cheaper.

Thanks! I just goggled and the nearest Trader Joes is a 16 mile drive. If the price hasn't come down locally by next week I'll make the trip and load up.

It is safe to say that the Conductivity Diet is bad for your health.
Too much oil is detrimental to your health.

I LOLd because I thought you were being sarcastic! If you are serious, would that work out financially for you when gas is factored in? I don't see how og is needed unless you want the peel, too.

That's all a bunch of crap or else you misunderstood. I have never experienced any shortages in the lemon/lime dept. If conventional is okay, try Aldi's. But even WF's doesn't charge that much per og. lemon. U wuz robbed, gurl!

No WF anywhere near my neck of the woods. I was robbed by Jewel/Osco.

As I said, I'm just going by the chatter in the store line and stuff like this "The Lime Panic Of 2014..."

Maybe the shortage is over in cities but here in the boonies it doesn't seem to be...

For those who have never experienced making their own essential oils sun tea from organic zests you really have an awesome treat to look forward to if you try it.

Lemon zest sun tea is way more awesome tasting than it sounds and is very good medicine.

I wouldn't think of throwing out my fresh raw essential oil filled organic citrus zests. I always have enough to put in the rest of my dishes and soups, etc. They freeze very well and I also dehydrate them for powdering.

My Zip Zester is one of my favorite raw kitchen tools. If something ever happened to it I would immediately replace it with a new one...
