Date: February 23, 2016 04:41PM Hi there,
For several years, I've washed produce in a water bath with approx. 1/4 o 1/3 cup of vinegar and a shaking of salt. I also use vinegar as a main component in washing liquid used to clean the sinks, toilets, shower stalls, etc... Well,wWe're moving to the country in a couple of months and will be on a (new, happily!) septic system. I got into a conversation with the serviceman who had come out to the house to inspect the well and septic systems and he told me I will have to break my habit of using vinegar in water to wash my produce and clean my house. Because, he said, the acids of the vinegar would very negatively affect the good bacteria that we'd one to be flourishing in the septic system. If you are on a septic system ??? how do you clean produce? What do you use to keep your house clean? I will most definitely appreciate your ideas -- thanks so very much!!
