I will get some more and just eat them whole, I sliced a piece for my daughter and she really liked it, but I threw it in the blender too fast to taste just the persimmons. Good reason to get some more tomorrow. smiling smiley

wow a seed!!! Strange!

I ate about 15, both hachiya and fuyu, over the past few days and never saw any seed. I remember thinking- from what does the persimmons plant grow ?

Persimmons have seeds when they're pollinated with pollen from another persimmon tree of the opposite sex. Otherwise, no seed:

"Many cultivars are parthenocarpic (setting seedless fruit without pollination), although some climates require pollination for adequate production. When plants not needing pollination are pollinated, they will produce fruits with seeds and may be larger and have a different flavor and texture than do their seedless counterparts."

True, and tested. I have several trees, and never had seeds until I introduced a new variety in the orchard and some trees started to get seeds. Usually, the commercial varieties don't have seeds because you have male and female trees and only one of the two will get seeds if pollinated by the other. Commercially, the usually don't mix them and sell the ones that won't get seeds. I bet your fuyus with seeds were not square shape with a flat bottom, but more kind of roundish with a round bottom too.
