I want your thoughts. My doctor wants me to do it. Since I stopped menstruating, hormones have shifted, I am really not suffering any, but my bowel habits have changed. Even with eating pure, organic, raw, and whole. Risks, experiences, etc?

I think colonoscopy is a comparatively safe diagnostic procedure. Here's an article about what can go wrong with colonoscopy and it sounds like the rates of complication are extremely low:

[ibdcrohns.about.com]

If your doctor feels that a colonoscopy is indicated, I would feel that the possibility of identifying a dangerous condition probably outweighs the slight risk. As with most medical procedures, it's best to be sure that it's performed by an experienced individual. If your doctor is offering to do the procedure I would ask him about his experience with colonoscopies. If you're uncertain about the need for the procedure, you might want to talk more with him about what he wants to look for, and why he feels it might be a concern in your case.

I would just try a colon cleanse.

I would do it.

A colon cleanse does little to evaluate whats going on inside of your body (polyps, ulcers, tumors, etc).

Think of the prep and sedative during the procedure as venturing off your raw diet for 2 days (with minimal risk).
Then, implement a colon cleanse or whatever you find necessary.

It could save your life.

what has been said, its worth doing a colon cleanse which is largely fake minus the fibre increase wont stop other problems as the poster above suggests.
