Date: August 28, 2010 01:16PM The World Health Organization is trying to answer that question, whether B-12 status is a world health concern, and also raises the question of what thresholds are most appropriate --
"More representative data and more consistent use of thresholds to define deficiency are needed in order to assess whether folate and vitamin B12 deficiencies are a public health problem." [www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] What defines a deficiency? Are thresholds used consistently? Re: Jack Norris Update on B-12

It's serious for people who have a deficiency which by definition is not everyone. Re: Jack Norris Update on B-12

Date: August 31, 2010 12:16PM One thing I liked about the Giessen Germany study is it recorded how many were supplementing for B-12, only 12 out of 201 (6%). I think the researchers were shocked to find so few German resident raw foodists (41 of the 201 strict vegan) supplementing for B-12, and that's why they were hesitant to suggest repeating the study on a larger scale, as if that would somehow be dangerous. Maybe so. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/31/2010 12:18PM by loeve. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
