Thx rab, it's good to have support, and we can all have some fun hey? But it is hard to convey mood etc via text as powerlifer pointed out.

Gettin back to B12, I read a journal article that mentioned that we need so little B12, that what is stored in our liver can last for three to five years before a deficiency is seen.

Anyway, a supplement will take the guesswork out of it....that is, if we can actually absorb that unnatural source??? Now that's another story lol.

Cheers geo

Yeah geo, recent studies showed even vegans who did supplement with sublingual b12 which minus injections is thought to be the best way to get b12 for vegans, showed that they were still low in b12.

Well, all this discussion about B12, no one has listed a particular brand of supplement. On another forum, The Vitamin Code Raw B12 is considered the best choice. What say you guys?

Well juicerkatz, it's possible the brand you mentioned is one of the best available, and if it works for you than that's great. I'm pretty wary though, when it comes to supplements. It's a multi-million dollar inductry which mostly uses fear as it's selling tool. The fear that we may or may not be getting enough this or that in our diet. Certainly, due to the advent of food processing, the depletion of nutrients in these foods has been of concern, and has led to the extremely lucrative supplement industry.

One of the reasons I'm wary, is that there's research articles that suggest that supplements may not only not help, but that actually may increase mortality....

geo,

I'm wary as well, not only with supplements but with packaged foods in general, which is why I don't buy any. But, since the general consensus is that we don't receive enough b12 in our diet, it would seem that supplementation is needed.

Anyone else care to weigh in on this? I am interested in hearing what others think as far as a reputable vegan b12 supplement.

Even if we lived in a fruitopian paradise I'd still supplement B12 because we might still be avoiding B12 rich insects and all the other non-fruit stuff that we primates used to eat. I take a pill.

Raevynn,
"Semen and vaginal fluid has the highest concentration of B12 in the human body "

I have heard its high in many minerals, vitamins, hormones, and other factors. Thats probably why chinese medicine advocates rather moderate sexual activity. I found one website which claims that semen is natures highest source of gold.

The B12 argument was the one that finally convinced me that we cannot continue to live "comfortable" city life any more. We HAVE TO get involved with gardening, foraging, even guerrilla gardening. Everything else is not sufficient to maintain health. We have to go back to natural life, which should not be that hard with the knowledge other people accumulated for us.

Most of the people who are affected by vitamin b12 deficiency are those vegetarians. But there are supplements to take in order to avoid this. My doctor recommend this spray [products.mercola.com] instead of taking injection which is fine with me co'z this is cheaper compare to injection and i think this spray work with me a lot.

b12 injections are not natural even CHIMPANZEES understand that [naturalhygienesociety.org]
Pure veganism does not exist in nature

I posted a reply on another thread about this study but the title of this thread took the study out of context. The study used an extremely small amount of people(3000) and certainly doesn't equal out to 39% of the US having low b12.

All the study showed was that from a group of 3000 people from one state in the US, 39% had lower than acceptable levels of b12. Now whilst this isn't good obviously we can't take from that, that nearly half of the US is low.
