Pruny hands?
Posted by: shep252 ()

Why are the palms and fingers on my hands so pruny (You know, like how they are after being in water a while.) I haven't been in water in a while, but I did a lot of dishes earlier today. But they don't usually stay like this. Is it because it is cold outside or am I eating too many watery fruits for this kind of weather, or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Wow,I had a lot of questions recently. Lol.

It could be too much sugar and/or not enough essential fatty acids (omega-3, etc). That'll make the skin saggy and/or puffy.

This is a real basic question, but what do you wash your hands with?

Do you feel that you are drinking enough liquids? Pruny hands could be a sign of dehydration. Drink plenty of good clean water every day. Makes your insides sparkle, too!!!!!

I wash my hands with organic soap.

Arvydas, How could it be too much sugar? On the SAD diet I had my FAIR share of processed sugars and a lot of carbs, and didn't get pruny hands like this.

It could be liquids, I eat enough things with plenty of water in them. Then I drink clean water in between meals. I thought maybe I was too hydrated? Because wouldn't a person with high blood pressure who eats a lot of sodium be dehydrated and they get edema? Or maybe I'm not assimulating fats? What do you think of those possibilities?

Thanks for the input, makes me think.

Sugars cause cross linking with the proteins in the skin which is the main cause of wrinkles and suchforth. If it's not sugar, it might be omega-3 deficiency, or hydration, like you said.

How much water do you drink in a day?

Hey! I have the same thing! Especially when I leave work for some reason. They're dry, but pruny, just like I've been in water too long, especially the fingertips. I never do dishes till after work, so I know it's not that...
Hmm...Maybe like they said, it's the soap?
I drink plenty of water myself...
Or the A/C at work?

By the way, do you eat any salt? You might want to eat some Celtic sea salt. It's good for the cells, in terms of regulating moisture balance.
