Brain cells more difficult to nurish?
Posted by: Mislu ()

I came accross some information that claimed that brain cells are more difficult to nurish. I am aware of the blood/brain barrier, but I never thought that this could inhibit proper nutrition of these cells. What do you think? Is it even a worry for most people? But I shouldn't be surprised if in fact most peoples brains are starving on some level.

Yes the brain cells are more difficult to nourish, but no, this isn't a problem if one eats a highly nutritious diet. I have long believed, based on my observation of children, whose brain chemistry is more plastic and whose BB Barrier is less developed, that a brain can starve of nutrients from diet alone, and that this can be easily reversed.

Mislu,

It gets reversed via intake of an appropriate amount and variety of nutrients, if I am understanding the question properly.

All nutritious foods really but omega 3s stand out as one of the good ones.

Foods rich in choline also.

someone once told me to eat foods that look like the organ you are trying to heal or strengthen... we were eating walnuts at the time... which resemble the brain... and is why the conversations started...
