Distilled Water
Posted by: Wheatgrass Yogi ()

That is a good Topic that SugarMagnolia started. I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more response....except for the fact it was her first post, and everything she said may have been fabricated. We've had Troll Attacks before.
I don't care either way, but when she said "Detox from everything", I heard a loud bell ringing.
I believe the best Detox is a long Water Fast using 100% steam-distilled Water, and nothing else. Everyone here seems to be afraid of it....even Prana.
Anyway, I just placed a bid on eBay.com for a Water Distiller.
Does anyone here own their own Distiller and/or drink Distilled Water?.....WY

My grandfather had a distiller and used to sell the water to people in his building. He lived into his 80's and when he passed it was quick and painless (fell, hit his head and was gone). My dad drinks distilled water as well but he has a lot of mineral build up and drinks it so that it will leach minerals from his body. That's why I don't drink it, I don't think I have enough minerals to spare. I prefer natural water but since I can't get it I'm about to buy a Berkey filter. Takes out fluoride and all the nasties but leaves some goodness behind.

Did you mean Berkley? I'd like a good filter on my kitchen sink faucet to draw the water from, before Distillation.
I'm going to try distilling my own water, and see how I feel.

Can't you just use freshly squeezed lemon to add electrolytes?

No, it's called Berkey, not Berkley. I made that mistake too.
Here is the site, this is the company that actually makes them (they are for sale from a few sites)

I have a distiller and used it for a while. I found it cumbersome, and gave up using it regularly. It had a foul smell and taste if left in a closed container. If left in an open container the funk seemed to evaporate away. Also, I found that the quality of the end product was greater and much less crap was left behind if I started with filtered water.

I am not afraid of water fast or distilled water. I just don't recommend it to people, because there can be lasting side effects, mostly psychological and emotional, but real nevertheless.

Boy.
Those articles sure burst my bubble.

I was wondering if Celtic salt is a good way to add back minerals to distilled water?

Its definitely worth adding the minerals back via some method anyway either an unrefined salt or the methods thestorm suggested.

That is very nice of you WY smiling smiley, you know who turned me on to that company? It was JuicerKatz, he has one of their filters and has used it for years and highly recommended it to me. I talked to a woman at the company yesterday wanting to know what sort of plastic the fluoride filter was made out of before ordering, we had a Great talk! Just in case you don't know about those filters they are an optional add on to take all fluoride out of the water before you consume it. She recommended to me that I filter the water then transfer it to a carafe to store in the fridge or on the counter. The reason for this is that the fluoride filters are in the part of the unit where the filtered water rests and I didn't want my filtered water to be touching plastic for longer than it takes to filter it. I watched one of John Kohler's youtube videos about plastic in juicers and blenders and such and he basically said that so long as you aren't storing food or drink in plastic it is pretty safe, that's why I was concerned.

I'm glad you ordered from them, after I found out about that filter I kept hearing it mentioned at sites that I go to for info, it's supposedly the best on the market smiling smiley.

Prana,

Curious on your take as to why drinking distilled water over the long term could bring on psychological and mental side effects. I had never heard that before.

I have a 1 gallon counter-top distiller that works great. For added minerals, I dissolve big chunks of Himilayan sea salt into a "sole" solution, and just add drops to the water.

Sorry, that was only for the long fasts. The times I've drank distilled water, I thought it was just fine. For me, its a hassle to make the distilled water, so I don't make it that often. I don't buy into the notion that it will demineralize you.

By the way, rainwater is distilled water.

I guess from a Raw Vegan point-of-view, Distilled Water is 'cooked' because it has to be brought to a boil. It is sometimes called 'dead water' with no Lifeforce. I've seen what is removed from distilled water, and don't want the dissolved solids, or heavy metals, in my Body. I have just about decided to use distilled water for all my drinking and food preparation....trusting the Greens I take in for mineralization, and not the water I use.....WY

I've had a distiller for over 20 years, my first one broke about 4 years ago and I drank spring water for the next 4 until I bought another one recently.

My bones are fine and teeth etc. I had a test for early onselt osteoporsis as I am in high risk group but i don't even have early signs of that.

I did not remineralise it or anything either

I concur with yogi, once you see and smell the putrid muck that is left behind from distilling city water, you will never want to drink it straight again. Although, the residue left over from distlling filtered water is much less and not nearly as offensive.

Is water that important if you are drinking a lot of green juices?
I drink 3 to 4 pints of green juices a day plus wheatgrass and eat fruits, so water when I need it is just plain tap water.

It all depends on how strict, and Pure, you
want to be. I just bought a nice Berkey Water Filter,
and am in the process of buying a Water Distiller from
a vendor on eBay.com.
I agree with Barlow. I'll never drink Tap Water again,
after seeing what's in it. Even rinsing my Sprouts will
be done with filtered water.
I have a suspicion that my flexibility will improve on
Distilled Water since all solids will be removed.....WY

That's fine, but if you buy Distilled Water in plastic
jugs, it's going to have a plastic taste, if your taste-buds
aren't impaired. It has strong pulling power.....WY

I buy distilled water, but I hate the fact that I am buying those ugly plastic bottles. That is the only water I drink (and my dogs too).

Here is what I am planning to make (or a variation of it, with more mirrors).

Gods will, I will do that this summer. I believe that solar distilled water is the most natural way to get pure water for drinking. There are many other ways (check 'solar distiller' on YouTube).

I've seen versions of this before. It's not my style (plus
my neighbors would complain), but if you like it, go for it.
Your water will cost virtually nothing, whereas the electricity
for my Water Distiller will run 40 to 50 cents per gallon.....WY

That is pretty graphic....and it's not just tap water
that leaves a buildup of inorganic minerals. It comes from
filtered tap water as well....and I suspect from Natural Spring
Water too.
Anyway, I'm trying to get my Act together with a Berkey w/4 filters,
then running that through a Water Distiller.....WY
P.S. If one has a 'best diet' then very little water actually needs
to be drunk....opting for natural distilled water as found in our food.

Yogi, what do you mean by the pulling power of plastic?

I think he means the pulling power of distilled water, the power to pull whatever is in the plastic into the water.

Yes, that's right. However, I don't know if 'pulling power'
is the correct terminology. I just want the distilled water to flush
any stored inorganic minerals from my Body.
I've contacted Dave Klein at DurastillStore.com about purchasing a
water distiller from him.....WY
