Considering Raw Diet for myself BUT...

Hello there, I hope this is the right board to post this in. If not, my apologies.

I have a very active lifestyle and I feel it's not supported by a good diet- so I'm always tired and worn out. So I'm considering RAW because the more I read about it, the better it sounds and I plan to put my dogs on raw later. [I plan to get a dog soon]

My problems with the diet follows;

I can't chew well, lack most of my chewing teeth, and have a fragile jaw with makes chewing a lot a task. This is why I LOVE pasta dishes, it's easy to eat and my favorite comfort food.

I really don't like veggies and fruits... But you can retrain yourself right?

I do have a gastronomy tube so I'm considering juicearian diet too, it would be very convinent as I already use the tube for most my meals lately since i recently had a surgery. I could keep doing this.

I'm allergic to bananas and avacados/guacamole, my mouth swells up a little and tickles. Nothing serious just unpleasant. I'm afraid I could be allergic to other fruits and vegs I haven't tried.

I would really love some advice and thoughts on this. I'd appreciate it alot. Thanks, God bless.

Of course juicing would be especially good for you since you have difficulty chewing, but if you don't like fruits and vegetables, I can't see how you could have a raw diet.

I don't know anything about gastronomy tubes, but your doctor should have information for you about what you can eat.

You could also eat smoothies and some raw soups.

That was me..and still is. Look into juice fasting and cleansing. It really changes your taste buds. I couldn't stomach broccoli before unless it was cooked and covered in butter and now I love it raw in salads.

Juicing or blending will get the veggies in as well and you can hide the bitter ones in other juices. Like greens hidden in carrot juice. I'd recommend juicing over blending since you don't like much fruit/vegetables as it is.

I have issues with textures of some fruits and that's where blending works for me.

Salads/Greens/Vegetables.. might have to find a salad dressing you like just to get yourself eating those and then maybe wean yourself off the dressing slowly as you get used to the vegetable taste.

You can definately re train your taste buds to be able to eat the wide variety of fruits and veggies. These are the basis of living foods, and somewhere in there you naturally crave them. Not Cheeseburgers.
Its all programming.

It's also possible that as you get healthier on your new RAW
diet that those foods you are purportedly "allergic" to will
no longer be problem; not to mention that those foods you don't
like may suddenly start to taste better. But, until then,
your best bet is to eat those RAW things that you do like and
focus on eating those items.

When I transitioned from the SAD (the Standard American Diet)
to whole-foods Veganism, I put spices on my food (pasta, brown
rice, potatoes, etc.) just so I could eat them. I gradually
reduced the amount of spice and eventually eliminated all
spices completely. I also found that RAW foods I formerly
could not stand (tomatoes, celery, strawberries, grapefruit,
etc.) I could suddenly enjoy and relish with ravenous delight!

One thing is for certain, you will have more energy on a RAW
diet, you will feel better as well (though you may have to
go through some type of detoxification of your system - and
the severity of which can vary greatly from one person to the
next), but if you stick with it, you will come out on top!

Feeling better, looking better, and enjoying this incredible
life EVEN more!
