Hybrid plants are ones which are created by various techniques such as grafting and cross polinating. If a fruit doesn't have seeds then it is almost certainly hybridised in some way, but many fruit with seeds are also hybrid. If you plant a seed from a hybrid, it may not grow at all, or it may grow and not produce fruit, or it may produce low quality fruit.

Or it may grow into a plant producing nice yummy fruit.

Hey djatchi, where are you from? Your background sounds really interesting. I can't help but be curious about how you happen to be on Wall Street when you came from a family that grows bananas, plantains, and rice. And you have a raw food diet too. That seems really unique, and I think you must have a lot of character.

Personally I've never really cared for the taste of sprouted lentils, although I haven't tried them in a long time. Maybe my tastebuds have changed. I think I'll give them a try soon. I like sprouted peanuts.

You don't really think that everybody who eats bananas is lazy, I mean really do you?

I agree with Yogamama's post, and I think everyone on this forum deserves a certain amount of respect for even attempting to live a healthier lifestyle. I mean I think that's what we're ALL doing here. Don't you?

You may feel frustrated because you are sure you are right about what you believe, but even if you ARE right, it wouldn't hurt to try to be a little more patient with the rest of us bumbling idiots. smiling smiley smiling smiley smiling smiley

Best wishes, Ally

>>Why do they do that?<<

are you asking why have plants been selectively bred for thousands of years? i'd say money is the main driving force.

I was just trying to stir the debate on implying that people eating bananas are lazy. I think it take courage to get away from the standard american diet and people who can do it deserve praise. But it is still true that living sprouts and indoor greens are much better than bananas.

On a more personal note (Just for Ally), I was born in one of the deepest jungle of africa in cameroun, there are no roads, no city in that part of the world. Wild animals were my daily companions when I was a child, we had to learn to live with them. We grew rice, plaintain, bananas and yams and pineapple. Very young I learned to live on these foods in their natural state.
When school was introduced into our small village I was among the first student to start and many years later was awarded a schoolarship to study in this country where I earned a phd in finance. The standard american diet did not work well for me when I was in graduate school, I got very sick and had to stop my program of study for a year to find a solution. I tried everything, every conventional treatment possible but nothing worked. Then I read Norman Walker and then Ann Wigmore and bought myself the Norwalk juicer. Sprouting was natural to me because we grew vegetables every day in the village. I am into yoga, exercise, I am 52 but most people think I am 35. And I have a lot of energy.

Last word from me on this - no, they are not better, they are just different! Sprouts good for vitamins and minerals and bananas good for calories (energy).

I find more energy in eating sprouted quinoa than banana and I can live on sprouts alone longer than I would on bananas alone.

Hi djatchi,

Thanks so much for answering my questions. I think your story is absolutely fascinating, and very inspiring. I'm glad to hear you're doing so well. Cameroun sounds beautiful!

Even though I personally find bananas to be very good and very healthy, I'm pretty sure I couldn't live just on bananas alone. I've always gotten along really well with fruit, better actually than with vegetables/greens/sprouts; but I've found that I seem to need them both.

Thanks again.

Best wishes, -Ally
