Pros & Cons of Mineral Oil
Posted by: woodfe ()

What are the pros & cons of adding mineral oil to the daily raw diet, as a source of fats? Nuts bother my intestines and avacados just don't taste that good. Would appreciate any and all responses. Elizabeth

P.S. I have been raw for about 2 years

I don't know anything about mineral oil, but what about hemp seed oil?? Have you tried that?

What is the source of the mineral oil? As far as I understand mineral oil is a very refined petro-oil and personally I wouldn't put any in my body, nor would I imagine it having a place in a raw vegan diet.

How do you do with hemp oil and coconut oil?

Cheers,
Ian.

Hi Woodfe,

hemp oil is the oil from hemp seeds and should be avaliable in health stores. I've found in both the UK and US without having to look very hard.

Flax seed (Linseed) oil is another alternative as well.

Cheers,
Ian.

NO MINERAL OIL!!!

it is not absorbable into the body and only lines the intestines restricting nutrient uptake.

hemp, flax, unfiltered cold-pressed olive, coconut (YUM)oil (the solid white stuff that smells delish is the only one!)-

when i run walnuts through my juicer, the oil frequently separates, and i used that on salads as well. very nice.

peace

This is pretty funny. Check out this article on Wikipedia to see what mineral oil is make from. And please don't eat any, as you will regret it.

oh my goodness! PLEASE do not eat mineral oil! It's used for oil in lamps! Yikes! Can you imagine what that would do to your body?

LOL -- I wonder how many people would put brake lubricant on their infants and use baby oil in their car?

Thanks to all for the info. I only used the mineral oil for a few days (6 - Yikes!) & have stopped using. I have ordered Hemp & Coconut oil.
