Worrying if you are eating enough for exercise

I know much of this might be mental but I just want to know if there is anyone else here that thinks that maybe it's not so much that you aren't eating enough to perform well in exercise but that it can also be subconscious fear or worry that because you are vegan or raw vegan that you may be weaker.

I know that during exercise I'll sometimes assume I have to fight the fear of not getting enough nutrition to endure.

Not so much. As a mom I've gotten used to the feeling of pushing through everything no matter what. I think my issue is the reverse, I need to feel where I'm actually at sometimes instead of just assuming that I can handle everything even if I haven't eaten enough or well enough to fuel the go. I've been a more go until you drop person out of necessity but I can change that with a mental shift. Sounds like you're in the same boat, a mental shift away from "better".

Yeah this was something i worried about constantly when i went vegan being an avid weight lifter, proper lifting that is i.e heavy.

But in the end these worries go away in time as you see your performance increase.

Forgot to say that eating enough is not something i worry about, i eat too much sometimes lol. Have always done, should learn to chew slower and enjoy my food.

What type of exercise are you doing?

Seems to me that your body will tell you what you need and make sure you are geting enough Sprouted grains, nuts or oils! If you have lots of energy and you are getting these two things plus your ahEW of vegies and fruit you should be fine, This is just the physical of coarse but hop it helped.

Contrary to popular belief, endurance activity primary food source is actually fats/fatty acids not carbohydrates.

Short sharp exercise i.e sprints, weight lifting etc requires glycogen as the primary fuel source.

I think I just need to consume some fruit before exercise with lots of greens. Or can I trust that my body can run on fats if I just long term stick with a low carb diet. I think that aerobic exercises would require some glycogen and anaerobic (like strength training, sprints) wouldn't require it as much but the type of exercise I do (kung fu) might require more glycogen no matter if I am able to digest fats better because one type of exercise only works with one kind of fuel better than others.

Strength training uses glycogen as its preferred fuel source. Aerobic tends to use fat like i say.

A rounded and individualized diet is key, all these high macronutrient, low nutrient diets usually aren't healthy for the majority long term.

I am as strong,if not stronger in the gym on raw than I ever was on tuna,milk,and protein powders.

I can't really speak for anyone else, but from my experience, I've come to know when i am weak because i am not getting enough food and when i am weak because i simply am not that resilient.

From my knowledge, when glucose is depleted from the liver and muscles, the body switches to fat reserves, but not before that. (meaning that if you have available sugar in your liver from your last meal, you will use that fuel source, simply because its easier for your body to tap into it).

After you have depleted the energy stored in your liver, you might come to a phase that athletes call "hitting the wall". This is when you feel weak and that you simply can't go on, literally becayse you're out of fuel. At this time, your body is trying to switch to fat reserves, but the process is not instantaneous, so you will feel weak and powerless for a while. If you don't want to lose weight, now is a good time to eat something to replenish your energy reserves. If you do want to lose some weight, you can try to go on without eating, although it will likely be hard, especially if your body is not used to making the switch.

In general, you'll know you've hit the wall when you're so tired that periods of rest will just not help. In more advanced cases some may feel dizzy or even faint due to hypoglycemia.

Actually its the other way around, commony misconception too. Glycogen is the predominent energy source when it comes to completeing a movement during weight training.

Whilst fat i.e fatty acids is the preferred energy types during slow aerobic endurance activity. Whilst most seem to believe it is carbs.

Yea.. there's a conflict about that. At school I learned weight training was anaerobic and aerobic was well.. running. But then when it comes to HIIT which is anaerobic but also done in the same way aerobic training (ie running) does it's different. And also someone who tels me at kung fu that since kung fu uses quick forceful BURSTS of energy you're going to need glycogen to burn rather than fats because for endurance training fats are better but for sprinting you need the glycogen. Well that's totally opposite to what I learned in school.
