Powerlifter, have you seen this one? I found it a very sober analysis and not trollish or otherwise with a hidden agenda:

(For those who won't or can't watch right now, she says that she tried doing it--I think for five months--and felt compulsive as well as too obsessed with food. This is my concern regarding anything this restricted--that there are too many rules and that excessive attention is placed on food.)

the 801010 is not for everybody. I already expressed my thoughts on that many times. The difference between succeding or not has to do with hormones and not mumerical intakes of this and that. Some people needs more fat-protein to get the hormones functional. Thus they may deviate a little and maybe temporarily (not forever).

Good link. Eating all that fruit would be bound to cause digestion problems, and it did with this lady. Stuffing yourself has never seemed like an deal thing to do. I've been there (full of blended sprouts) and it feels like you are slowly killing yourself.

Here is one of my favourite interveiws that l watch every now and again. This is Mark Handy's story of the struggles with the raw food diet and weight loss. He then switch to an 80-10-10 type of diet where he had low eneregy and went to the toilet all throughout the night - basically went to pieces and reckoned he was almost diabeteic. He then went to Hippocrates, got some good raw food education, gained the weight and did much better.

In the 12 years I've been playing with raw foods, I've seen a lot of people come and go with the raw diet. There have been many people who because they loved the results they got from going raw, became authors or educators or promoters of the raw diet, but ultimately the quit being raw themselves. The raw diet is no more or less dead than it was when I first started raw, and I myself am enjoying myself on my raw diet.

If a person thinks the raw diet is dead, it is dead for them. And if a person experiences the raw diet working for them, well, it works for them. We are all god in our own universes.

If 80/10/10 is so bad why is Doug Graham doing so well, still standing tall and all muscular as many of his dedicated followers. I think the concern for nutrient X or Y is overblown. The body can produce many of these nutrients from the food we eat, the air we breath, the water we drink.
I wonder what the breatharians would think.

You are really saying the Master " i don't think Doug has aged well at all which is probably from his deficient diet,"?
Interesting...
I think that somebody who has written a monumental work would stick to the principles they promote or write another corrected edition of their work.

As for breatharians they claim to get the nutrients from the source, the sun energy. I do not know how it is done, they talk about sun gazing. Nuttients then do not have to go thru the food chain but directly into their system. Is that science fiction?

Well said powerlifter, many people think the same thing. If this is how you end up on a raw food diet, it doesn't do much to promote the cause and motivate people if they end up looking like normal SAD eaters. l thought raw food diets were supposed to make people look better than the typical SAD eater and glow? No evidence of it in that picture. Is it a poor raw diet, and/or, are other foods being eaten?

Doug sure is a strong bloke, but i've seen strong SAD eaters like that also.

I hope it's fair what l have said. It's natural for people to ask these questions. Many do bring up these same issues with Doug.

One single picture may not be enough for a case. It all depend on the angle where the picture was taken.

There was more than one pic above. Another of his very swollen parotid glands - [i1.ytimg.com]

Chronic enlargement of the parotid gland when other causes have been ruled out, can be caused by malnutrition. This is very rare in American literature however, but not in developing countries.

this is the tipical PL thread, piling up bad things to present the 801010 as the worst thing on earth. If the 811 diet causes swelling of one gland, wouldn't you see other people with swollen glands making videos, specially when it is located on the face? Does one case make a whole theory? why would you fall for a white/black fear mentality?

people will see errors in others if they eat different. It happens among raw vegans too. But the thing is that presenting small facts and building general theories to prove a diet is bad creates an illusion to sell. people use science and create a 'scientific' general theory form small anecdotes. They conveniently will look away from people who succeed so as not to be disproved. When you only talk about the bad things of X or Y, you are negating/hiding the possitive things. all you do is create an image by selecting special angles. It makes you skinny. It makes you fat. It lacks nutrients. What's for today?
