Do any one know here how to make spirulina culture (so that I can grow it in distilled water and avoid heavy metal contamination) and how to remove microcystin without adding H2O2?

Ramanan, if anyone here tells you they know how to do this they are lying. That you can be sure of.

I would not use steroids (androsterone in pine pollen). They make you feel good short term but you could pay the price long term.

Potential Long-Term Risks
For men--shrinkage of testicles, growth of breast tissue, impotence
For women--male pattern baldness, increased facial hair, increased risk for breast cancer and endometrial cancer, blood clots
For youth--acne, early start of puberty, stunted growth

Do you have any evidence that long-term use of pine pollen is associated with any of the things you mentioned? Pine pollen is actually a tonic medicine, which means it can be used over long periods of time without having toxic effects on the body. We live in a world where are hormones are constantly being attacked by all the chemicals and pollution in the environment. Plus there are over 200 bioactive nutrients, vitamins, and minerals, and it's rich in antioxidants.

do the work yourself winking smiley Do you have any evidence to the contrary?

hormone stimulants will have an initial boost but then you won't feel the effects after a while (the honeymoon phase does not last forever). If you stop taking it, you'll "crash" or go in roller coasters looking for the next hormone TRICK. Read litterature on hormones. That stuff is difficult and nobody has figured out how it works. They never mention the bad stuff in the marketing sales pitches, especially when using labels such as "superfoods" winking smiley

astaxanthin also messes up the hormones and boost testosterone (according with Dr Mercola-he takes it). looks like you are 'hooked' on boosting testosterone but you think it is the micronutrients what makes you feel good je je. BTW astaxanthin is not a FOOD. It is an isolated MOLECULE. So maybe, a more appropiate name for your post should be EXTRACTED MOLECULE POWDERS instead of superfood powders

[astaxanthinbenefits-for-health.com]

One of the most serious astaxanthin side effects is that it will lower your blood pressure. This is good if you have high blood pressure and are not treating it with medication or supplement. However, if you have high blood and are taking medication or supplements, then astaxanthin can cause the pressure to drop dangerously low. Also, if you are suffering from low blood pressure, you should be very careful about dosage, or not supplement with astaxanthin at all

Astaxanthin side effects also include hormonal changes. If you are taking hormone-altering medications you must be aware that they can interact negatively with astaxanthin. Astaxanthin can also interact with herbs such as black cohosh, vitex, and saw palmetto, which are commonly used to alter hormone levels in the body.

It can cause breast enlargement in men. Because of possible hormonal changes, pregnant and breastfeeding women should not take astaxanthin since there may be dangerous side effects to both the developing fetus and the mother.

It is best to consult your qualified healthcare practitioner in this case before starting a regimen of astaxanthin supplements. Dangerous allergic reactions include difficulty breathing and hives.

I'm not going to continue discussing super foods and powerful supplements with people who are completely ignorant on the subject and have a pre-determined bias based off what they've heard from so-called raw food "gurus". You state that pine pollen causes negative effects and then tell me to disprove it, do you realize how illogical and ridiculous that is? That's the equivalent of me telling you to prove there's not an invisible monster living in your house. Time to wake up and realize that nutrition and health are evolving, and part of that evolution is super foods. Chances are the people who will claim super foods don't work or are a scam are people who are old, because that's what was ingrained into their mind way back when. Advancements are made just like with everything else in life.

you really live in your own little bubble. All I did was to balance the discussion. If all you want to do is to hesar good things about the powders you eat, go for it. But don't expect everybody to clap at you. Info is a click away.

You didn't balance the discussion, you made a lot of claims about testosterone and certain products without giving any scientific evidence. All this talk about super foods and its effect on testosterone... do you have testosterone issues or something?

what? are you saying they don't boost homones (which you confuse with feeling better from micronutrients)?

let me click it for you:

pine pollen [www.google.com]

astaxanthin [www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

When did I ever say anything about pine pollen or astaxanthin and how I feel? I rotate super foods anyways and don't even take pine pollen everyday. Actually, only a few times per week. There's so much scientific research done on astaxanthin validating its over health benefits so I don't really know what else to say here. All of that means nothing because it boosts hormones is what you're trying to get at? Also, that study wasn't even pure astaxanthin, it included saw palmetto extract which is known to boost testosterone.

hi jtprindl

thanks for the heads up on the goji berry taurine connection
i saw that there are tons of articles on taurine as being an active ingredient in goji berries and its relation to diabetic retinopathy

i have very good vision
but i'm all about the prevention

and i think this is pretty exciting

also, just a little tip

the goji berries at american stores are super expensive
but if you go to asian stores

they are a LOT cheaper

i agree in that it is good to rotate superfoods

the way i see it, everything rides on a spectrum

precision key knowledge and timing - not moderation, is key

I've heard that in the past but would they be of the same quality? Organic and free of contamination? Many in the raw-food community bash dried fruit but overloading on sugar isn't a problem unless you eat way too much and it shouldn't hurt your teeth any if you rinse and then lightly brush after eating them. A handful or two a day is enough.

Another crop heavily grown in the swath of primary Pacific Northwest Fukushima fallout zones. No thanks. Shrooms suck that stuff up like a sponge.
