what's the best place to get wheatberries

Yeah they're quality seeds from my experience. I use a little more than an inch of soil.

Or you can get organic wheat from a health food shop. Start off with a sample, and if it grows good grass you can then get a big sack of it. Much cheaper.

Wheat can be used for ferments, food and grass. It is a very handy food to have.

If you go that way it is best to get a 50 pound sack.

You can just get some in bulk at Whole Foods. If you bought some that were on the older side, it's possible they were not as viable. I was just reading about certain varieties of wheat berries that are most suitable for sprouting. I didn't retain it so it would be good to look it up and find out the best kind to buy.

Hard wheat for grass. Soft wheat for eating.

Right now I'm using "Purple Cow Organics" potting mix, but there are many organic soils you can use. I've seen many organic soils at Whole Foods.
