EM-1 Effective Micro Organisms

Anyone have experience using EM-1, Effective Micro Organisms, Soil Conditioner.

Question.. if I kept it in the fridge, will it go bad? It says do not freeze, but is being in the fridge ok?

At Tree of life rejuvenation center, they grow sprouts in it, and they soaked their washed dishes with it, and put in their hot tub instead of chlorine.

I want to use it in my garden. Its a part of making the soil good too, I seen on youtube. Its for veganic gardening, I do not know how vegan, live little germies are. Are they?

They are said to be non-GMO and are most likely vegan.

I wonder why Tree of Life wouldn't just make their own. Anyway, here are some recipes you should be able to easily alter for making your own, (which is what I would do), sans the wheat and milk. Should be no biggie...

OK, so after further looking into the subject of EM-1, effective micro organisms, I have found that although they can be home made without the milk and thereby grow other beneficial micro organisms, they, of course, would not include lactobacillus without milk.

SO, the lactobacillus in EM-1 means it is not vegan.

SO, if Tree of Life is using store bought EM-1 as coconutcream reports they are - on just about everything - Tree of Life rejuvenation center is not a vegan establishment. Period.

SO, my question to you, coconutcream, is does the Tree of Life rejuvenation Center claim to be vegan? I, myself, have not seen them claim to be exclusively vegan but always just assumed it was from other's comments about the place. Maybe they were just assuming, too...

If it's never been open you can keep EM1 at room temperature. Once it's been exposed to oxygen, it will keep longer if you refrigerate it. If kept at room temperature, yeast may start to grow in it. This actually doesn't lessen the strength, but you won't get yeast if you keep it cold.

For inoculating the soil in your garden, also check out SCD Probiotics BioAg. It has more of the beneficial PNSBs than EM1, and it's cheaper. BioAg contains two strains of the PNSBs, plus it has bacillus subtillus (used in making natto).

SueZ, that recipe will not create anything close to EM-1. What it will contain are lactobacillus from the air, and perhaps other random bacterial. Real EM has a combination of Purple Non Sulfur bacterial, lactic acid bacteria, and yeast (and sometimes natto bacteria aka bacillus subtillus). Without the PNSBs, a homemade brew will not have the syntropic (or anti entropy) properties, the ability to eliminate toxins, or the high antioxidant properties of EM. That recipe will at best create a lactic acid beer.

Here is the ingredient to make BioAg: Purified and Structured Water, Proprietary Lactic Acid Cultures, Organic Sugar Cane Molasses, Mineral Powder, Sea Salt, Rice Bran Liquid Extract.

The Proprietary Lactic Acid Cultures contain PNSBs, lactic acid bacteria, yeast, and bacillus subtillus.

Thanks, Prana! I'll look into that.

Thanks for this brand info. I put it in my Amazon.com shopping basket. I want to try some experiments with it.

Thanks, looks like a lot of good info. My main concern is there is no way to really know if their are really not GMO's used in the processing so I'm not going to ingest anything directly. Have you? If so what do you think of doing that?

One natural thing, aside from raw food, that I know for a fact is very high energy and protective is very low processed naturally retted linen. It's amazing to wear and to use as bedding. You might be interested in trying it.
