pineapple allergy?

I rarely eat pineapples, n only a couple pieces when I do, but recently have tried eating it more often. Yesterday it burnt my mouth, from being so acidic. N I think it may be burnt from eating it 2 days before also. I don't think it causes any other problems. Should I consider this an allergy n always avoid it, or is it something that needs eaten in moderation, like really small amts?what is in it that I am sensitive to?

don't buy green colored pineapples. They were picked early (very acidic - bad for teeth). When they ripen, they get brown/orange in the outside. Thats the one you want.

I doubt it is allergy. More likely it is the bromelein enzyme in the pineapple. It digests proteins including the skin in your mouth. I long to be able to eat raw pineapple but can't.

I understand the unripe pineapples cause such reactions. Eating any unripe fruit is a bad idea in general. I noticed that my ability to pick high quality fruit improved in time. I learned to read my senses.

According to Doug G...

"The actual shape of the kiwi fruit's cells literally cut your tongue, as do pineapple, and fig skins. Then, the acid burns."

"The shape of the cells can cut your tongue. Then the acid in the fruit burns your tongue. Do not exceed your limit. Look for the ripest pineapples, the cells are more rounded."

Do these fruits have high oxalate problems, or is that something entirely different?
