Nutrient calculators useless

ok, they're reasonably accurate for calories and macronutrients.

But it occurs to me that for micronutrients, which is what many people use it for all the time, it is actually useless.

for example, calcium available (due to varying oxalates)
from spinach, chard, beet greens, rhubarb 4-8%
bok choy,kale,broccoli 40-60%
romaine - probably higher

So taking into account the varying BODILY absorption capabilities
Plus
The above FOOD variation for calcium and likely most/all other micronutrients
Plus
the fact that amounts in nutrient databases are purely nutrient content in without taking into account to absorption efficiency,

Using a nutrient calculator is not even close to being accurate.

Correct me if I am wrong...

Fresh,
That sounds correct. I read a book on composting years ago, and it mentioned the variability of nutrients in food. The book gave even more drastic examples. Some nutrients varied by as much as 1,000 times. I don't remember which mineral or nutrient, but most likely its a trace mineral.

Plus, the way B12 is measured, it gets destroyed if not embedded in protein. Fruits and vegetables do not have zero b12, unless they were grown in sterile dirt.

Plus no one really understands the exact amt anyone needs. I'd like to know that myself, but it's all jut opinion. N a lot of the "facts" out about nutrients are from studies on meateaters.
