Hazelnuts

I just found out that trader joe's has a new product: raw OREGON hazelnuts. Yay! Problem is this: the skins are completely stuck to the nuts, absolutely stuck. Will I not be able to soak/activate them because they have their skins?

You mean the shell? as far as I know the skins are fine and will allow water to soak through. Just soak them what do you have to lose. Always buy organic if you can afford it!
