I made my first ever chia pudding using this basic recipe:
1/2 cup chia soaked with 4 cups of fluid.

Improvise!
Fluid can be for example, water (or water mixed with coconut water) blended with dates (and bananas as I did). I added a sprinkle of dried goji berries in. You can also add carob, cinnamon, grated coconut, vanilla bean. Anything that comes to mind (within reason).

MMm I am hungry. I do like the raw kombucha "red chia" or whatever it is called in the organic shops. Maybe you can mix it with juice too

No-one seems to sprout their chia seeds here. Note, the protein of soaked chia has very low absorbability, 24% on average due to protein inhibitors, so best to avoid largely undigested protein by sprouting it.

Many people suggest soaking chia and blending it, but not a very good idea to follow this advice.

Soaked chia still has a lot of anti nutrients.

Someone here made it up. But just a word of warning, l am quite sure the word "sproutman" has been patented and anyone who uses it can be brought before a court of law and sued by the original `Sproutman' himself.

I like the name "The Sproutarian" the best (brother of The Fruitarian), and l did originally register under that name but have never been able to log in to that name. Still...l am not too bothered by names...call me as you please.

Hey Sproutarian. I have a bag of teff. I had it for a while. I did have it sprouted and dehydrated once. Sprinkled on top of some raw pudding.
What else can I do with it.

A little report. I enjoyed chia pudding on a number of occasions at various potlucks, and recently has made my own for the first time. I found that having it in more than small quantities dehydrates me and is a bit heavy on the tummy. I love the taste of the pudding due to dates in it I guess. A bit of a sweet tooth I am.

I bought organic chia seeds yesterday and I have no idea what I'm getting into. I've never tried them before and didn't have any idea what to do with them until you started this thread la_veronique.

I only have a little more of an idea now but I'm going to press forward and see what happens.

I'm amazed by your ratio of 1/2 cup of chia seeds to 4 cups of water, coconutcream. I must have enough seeds for a barrel of water!

That's an excellent article TSM. As for protein absorption, raw chia doesn't fare as well in this study and the writer suggests it's may be because of the high fiber content. I really don't know but I think sometimes that because my body is accustomed to a high fiber diet, it is able to better digest the food I eat than the average human monkey would be able - or maybe I'm delusional.

I can't figure out why my chia seeds seem to not be absorbing liquid like they used to. I sometimes make a pudding with soymilk and chia and nutmeg/cinnamon. Kind of like a tapioca or rice pudding. But I kept increasing the chia because it remained runny and would not gel very much. I wonder if I just didn't use enough liquid...
